The Shed a Tier Congresses are explained here.

Each of the Congresses held to date is described below in turn, along with the speeches presented at each Congress (note: speeches for which scripts have not yet been provided will be forthcoming).


The 1st Shed a Tier Congress was held at Parliament House, Canberra, on Friday 22 June 2001, and attended by 13 people.  We received speeches from:


The 2nd Shed a Tier Congress was held at Parliament House, Canberra, on Friday 21 September 2001, and attended by about 30 people. As set out in the Program , this 2nd Congress received speeches from:


The 3rd Shed a Tier Congress was held at Parliament House, Canberra, on Friday 22 March 2002, and attended by about 40 people. This was the first Congress held following the formation of the Beyond Federation network, and the First Congress centred on a theme.  Its full title was:

Due unforseens circumstances, A.J. Brown was unable to give his talks as indicated on the program, and due to timing pressures, Klaas Woldring was unable to give his closing talk, and John August and Max Bradley were unable to have their mini debate on salinity issues.


the 8th Shed a Tier Congress, was held in Albury at the Sailors, Soldiers and Airmens Club on Saturday and Sunday, 19-20 July, with an attendance of about 60 people.

The conference dinner received presentations from A.J Brown (Griffith University), Peter Consandine (Abolish State Governments! Party), and Ian Johnston (New States movement).


The 9th Shed a Tier congress was held in Canberra on 19 March 2004, a discussion accompanying A.J. Brown's Senate lecture. A record of the discussions is archived here.

Beyond Federation: Visioning A Future Without State Governments

This 10th congress received presentations from : Charles Mollison released this Communique outlining some conclusions from the congress.

The 11th Shed a Tier congress was held in Gippsland on the weekend of 9-10 July 2005, at Mirboo North on Saturday 9 July and Sale on Sunday 10 July. Over 40 people attended the Mirboo North session on Saturday, about 25 attended the Sale session on Sunday, and a total of over 50 people attended at least one of the sessions (noting that some people attended both sessions).
