Beyond Federation
was established, on 8 January 2002, to encourage improvements to our
Constitution and system of government that will benefit Australia and
all
Australians.
Our aims and
visions for a socially, environmentally and
economically sustainable Australia, served by a "best possible"
system of government, are set out in our Beyond
Federation Charter.
Beyond
Federation Election Campaign
Beyond
Federation's Shed a Tier
Congresses have
been attended by members of all major political parties,
and some people within the Beyond Federation network are already
members existing parties. Without detracting from such party
affiliations, members of Beyond
Federation attempted to win election to the Senate in the 2007 federal
election. It was possible to vote for independent Senate
candidates
pursuing the Abolition of States within NSW. See here.
Jim Snow and
Mark Drummond were elected as the founding
convenors on the day Beyond Federation was established on 8
January 2002, and in June 2009 Jim retired as convenor and Michael
Cranny became deputy convenor. Mark has a website
with his PhD
thesis
and
thoughts
on
government structure reform with an emphasis on reforms
related to the abolition of State governments.
Members of the
Beyond
Federation network include:
individuals
from across the political spectrum;
the
Shed a Tier lobby group chaired by Max Bradley (currently no website);
We'd strongly
encourage you to have a good look at the
websites as above.
This website
does not repeat what is shown on the
websites of our member groups as above; rather, it focuses on
the Shed
a Tier Congresses and the many
wonderful speeches
we've been privileged to receive at these Congresses. We hope
this will provide an archive of constructive ideas and
visions for a better Australia that will prove useful to students,
researchers,
policy makers and the general public.
